what makes this generation distinct
I created this generation of work while working as a studio assistant at my former university. While mixing wood ash glazes for the studio, I became curious about wood ash and what it could do for my work. Bored with the dull clay body that haunted the electric and gas kilns, I began incorporating wood ash into my work to liven up and bring warmth to the surface of the clay. In addition to the wood ash distinguishing this body of work, my use of copper oxide in my surface decoration is a new development in my work.
